Thermal Plasma Torches

Thermal Plasma Torches (TPTs) are designed to produce high temperature plasma (energized fully dissociated gas molecules). Plasma is produced by passing small amounts of gas through the plasma arc within the plasma torch body itself. This plasma plume exits the torch and is available for a wide variety of work on gases, liquids and solids.

Example of torch position for syngas reforming using APEC’s TPT

Applications of APEC’s TPT include:

  • Melting / Vitrification Solid Waste
  • Destruction of Hazardous Materials
  • Tar Cracking and Syngas Production
  • High Temperature Coatings (with particle injection)
  • Testing of Heat-Resistant Materials
  • Advanced Plasma Applications (Patent Pending)

APEC’s high efficiency Thermal Plasma Torches (TPT) can be used directly in client’s unique green energy applications without the need for stabilizing noble gases. Present experience base is on 50-750kVA operational scales; however, TPT’s are highly scalable and can be designed to fit clients’ needs. APEC’s plasma torches are available in both transferred and non-transferred arc configurations.
